Chichester Central School Slides Towards a Safer and More  Accessible Playground

Chichester Central School has two donors to thank for starting their campaign for a safer and more accessible school playground.  At the annual school district meeting held this past March, a donation from Matrix Business Concepts of Chichester was awarded to the Chichester School District to begin the project of replacing the school’s playground slide.  In June, Chichester Central School is proud to have received a community grant from the Globe Community Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.  Both Matrix Business Concepts and the Globe Community Fund have given a giant boost by providing these donations for a new slide that will be available to children of all levels of mobility.

Research by the Robert Wood Johnson foundation states that not only does recess affect children’s academic success, but it also contributes to their overall well being.  The generosity of Globe Manufacturing and Matrix Business Concepts has put CCS closer to installing a slide that will be safe and accessible for all students.  The slide will be the second piece of equipment that Chichester Central School  has brought in order to make their playground accessible. Both the PTO and the CCS student council worked two years ago to provide an accessible swing.  Both projects are the beginning of a broader plan to keep children safe while making accessibility available to all while playing.

Though the actual slide piece has been ordered, Chichester Central School is still looking for donations and volunteers to help toward the groundwork and installation.  They would also appreciate donations of box tops for education from General Mills products as this program can significantly support the school with more involvement from all citizens of Chichester. If you have an interest making a donation or in volunteering time for the playground project, please call the main office at 798-5651 and speak with Principal Brian Beaverstock or via email at [email protected] . Donations of  Boxtops for Education can be sent in with students, dropped off at school, or mailed to 219 Main Street, Chichester, NH 03258.

Chichester Central School is looking forward to creating additional opportunities for the community to come together for the benefit of children in this town and the greater surrounding area.

Chichester Town Library News

Thanks to all who came to the Library last Saturday to buy used books, puzzles, cd’s and dvd’s.  The relationship between the community, customers and the library helps to “Build a Better World” for all of us in Chichester and others.

A basket class is scheduled for next week on July 26th.  This project will be a large Farmers Market basket with a Williamsburg handle.  The cost will be $21.00.  Participants will need to bring an old kitchen towel, strong shears, clip clothespins, a pencil, tape measure and a flat head screwdriver.  The class size is limited, so hurry and call the library at 798-5613 to sign up.

Thursday, July 27th at 10:30a.m., The Audubon Society will be at the library as part of the Summer Reading Program, “Build a Better World,” to teach the kids about various birds.  Additionally, the participants will be making bird feeders to help build a better world for the birds.
