Town Wide Yard Sale Chichester
Firefighters Association is once again sponsoring the Chichester
Town Wide Yard Sale on Saturday June 3rd, 8am-2pm. There are several
ways you can participate: If you want to come to a central location,
spots will be available at the Town Hall parking lot. If you are
having a sale at your home or business you may have your yard sale
location and description placed on a Town of Chichester map. There
is no charge for either of the above, but a donation to the
Firefighters Assoc. equipment fund would be greatly appreciated.
Lastly, if you have some items you want to get rid of, but don’t
want to have your own sale, the Firefighters Association will accept
donated items which we will sell to add to the equipment fund.
Donation of items will be accepted at the fire station the week of
May 29-June 2. No clothing or upholstered furniture please. You may
leave items by the front door if no-one is there. Pick up can
possibly be arranged.
Maps will be available for pickup at the
fire station on Friday June 2nd or at the Town Hall on Saturday the
3rd. Once again, there is no cost for any of this, but we are
suggesting a donation to the Firefighters Association Equipment
Fund, which is used to buy equipment for the fire-rescue department,
beyond what is available in the regular budget.
You may
register for the Yard Sale or get more information by visiting our
website:
www.chichesterfireassociation.org
You may also contact Paul Sanborn at 608-6252, Ben Chaffee at
603-486-6555, or sign up at the fire station.
Chichester Grange Awards
Night Submitted By Hannah West
Chichester Grange held its
Annual Awards Night on May 3 with forty-nine people in attendance.
Officer Philip A. Arnone was recognized as Police Officer of the
Year. Phil came to the Chichester Police Department in April, 2016,
and graduated from the Police Standards and Training Academy in
August of the same year. An avid hockey player, he jumped into the
Chad of Dartmouth program with enthusiasm. He played as a member of
the police team in this year’s Battle of the Badges and scored three
of the nine goals as the forward of the team. More importantly, he
raised $5500.00 for the charity and made a life-time friend named
Parker. We hope he will remain a full time officer with the
Chichester Police Department for many years.
Elaine Coffey was
chosen as this year’s Community Citizen. She worked at Chichester
Central School for 25 years, sixteen of them as a special education
teacher. In her retirement she has embraced volunteer work. She
volunteers at Out Of Your Attic Thrift Shop and both the Concord and
Pittsfield food pantries. She also volunteers at Concord VNA
Hospice, doing office work. She has been volunteering at the refugee
center in Concord on a weekly basis. She is a deacon at the First
Congregational Church of Pittsfield and can be seen working in the
root beer float booth at Pittsfield Old Home Day to earn money for
the infant/toddler diaper pantry that the church sponsors. The
greater Chichester area is enriched by Elaine’s energy and caring.
This year it was Chichester Central School’s turn for the Educator
of the Year award. The Grange decided to honor Principal Brian
Beaverstock for the positive impact that his energy and enthusiasm
has had on Chichester’s students, faculty, and parents. Even the
school building has benefitted from his oversight of the
installation of a new septic system, a new furnace, and a number of
issues with the well and the water system. Mr. Beaverstock has been
at Chichester Central for nearly three years, and we hope he will
remain for many more years, helping Chichester School thrive.
Shirley Sullivan, this year’s Postal Worker, is a rural carrier
associate at the Epsom Post Office. She began her career at the Post
Office in 1987 and has covered many jobs over the years.
Outside of work she cares for her family, is an avid bird watcher,
and is currently designing a tiny house with her brother. Everyone
at the Epsom Post Office appreciates her smiling face and positive
attitude.
The Outstanding Youth Award was given to some young
ladies who, as members of the Teen Advisory Group at the Chichester
Library, successfully completed an oral history of several
Chichester residents. They prepared appropriate questions,
conducted interviews, and recorded and edited the results. Hana
Testerman, Emily Allen, and Sarah Miner were present to receive
their awards. Mikayla Cadorette also helped with the project but was
not present at the Awards Night.
The evening ended with
refreshments and a social time.
