Chichester Public Library News

The Chichester Library is rocking and rolling into this new year.  We are happy to report that circulation statistics, i.e., the books and dvd’s being signed out, have doubled within the past two years.  The library is, after all, part of the heart of the town, where people come to meet, greet, share time over common interests and get great reading material, as well as have access to reference material.

Come on into the library to see the “Photo-cation Exhibit” of the Chichester Photo Group. The exhibit will stay up for two months, giving everyone a chance to come and enjoy it.  It’s a travelogue of a special kind, taking us many places through the eyes of our fellow residents.

Tomorrow is the Down Cellar Readers book group at noon.  The books for this past month were at the individual’s discretion and will be reported on and discussed from that perspective.

Monday, February 6th, is the meeting of the Down Cellar Poets at 7 p.m.

The next Memory Café, held in conjunction with Epsom Library, will be on February 10th at 2 p.m. at the Chichester Library.  This program is particularly focused on those with memory issues, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s, and their caretakers.  It is a special time for all.

Mark your calendars now!  The library will be hosting two programs in late February with Marina Forbes, an expert on Russian Arts, History and Culture.  On Friday, February 24th at 7 p.m., Marina will be presenting a program at the Grange Hall on the Imperial Russian Faberge Eggs.  These works of art have a history and story all of their own, one that cannot help but fascinate us.  Then, the next day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Marina will be leading a storytelling and hands-on workshop for adults, teens and families with children at least 6 years old.  Here, Marina will be helping individuals to create an authentic family heirloom and gift.  Plus, the time spent as a family will be one that will remain treasured.  There will be a $10 fee for the Saturday workshop to pay for materials.  Although more information with be forthcoming, it is important you save the dates.

Chichester Old Home Day  2017

We held our first meeting on 1/18 at the Chichester Grange. Thank you to all who came out to this newly organized committee, with their positive outlook and ideas. We are looking for more volunteers in many areas and your ideas if you want to share them we would love to have you join us at our meetings. Meetings will be held the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Grange Hall in Chichester at 6:30 pm.  We hope to see you there!
