1st for the annual CYA adult dance. There will be a DJ, raffles and
more. Then, if you really want to set up your calendar for the
future, September 30th is the date for the CYA Annual Golf
Tournament.
Congratulations to
Mackenzie Poirier of Chichester who was named to the dean’s list at
the University of Vermont.
To be named to the dean’s
list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and
rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective
college or school.

12mo., 25¢ each. Baby crocheted blankets 25¢ each. Free magazines
daily. Check the pictures on the walls in every room, there are
some very nice frames and photos. Whoever left the bi-fold doors
and plate glass by the back door, please come and take them back.

Chichester Public Library News
There are two great
programs for the little ones at the library. The
Pre-school/Kindergarten Story and Craft group will be meeting
tomorrow, January 26th at 10:30 a.m., while Toddler Time, for the
wee ones under the age of three, will be meeting next Tuesday,
January 31st at 10:00 a.m.
Come join the Knitting
Circle this afternoon, and virtually every Wednesday afternoon, at
3:30 p.m. Although called the Knitting Circle, this is a very
inclusive group who welcome those who like to crochet, too. I
daresay, they would welcome others interested in spending time with
like-minded folk in needle point, cross-stitch or another of the
needle-work arts.
The Teen Advisory Group
will be meeting on Saturday, the 28th at 9 a.m. to have a
brainstorming session for planning activities in the upcoming
months. Teens thirteen years of age and older are encouraged to
attend. If you’re a teen, this is your group. Please take
advantage of this opportunity to get to know others and to explore
things you might like to do.
The New Hampshire Barn
Dance is this Saturday, the 28th. Donations are encouraged and
gladly accepted for Dudley Laufman. Don’t forget to come early!
The Chichester Photo
Group will be meeting this coming Monday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m.
Members will be hanging their photos for a two-month exhibit
entitled, “Photo-cation.” Each photographer will be featuring a
place they have visited, allowing viewers to come travel with them
without ever leaving Chichester!
The Evening Book Club
will be reading and discussing March by Geraldine Brooks for their
February meeting. A Pultzer Prize-winner, this historical fiction
builds on Louisa May Alcott’s character of the father in Little
Women, as he leaves his family to support the Union during the Civil
War.

Baseball/Softball
registration forms were sent home last week with children in grades
K-6th. Forms can also be found at chichesteryouth.com.
Deadline is March 5th
registrations will be accepted from March 6th - 12th with a $10.00
late fee.
Skill requirements for
each level are also on the website, please review them as teams will
be determined based on age and ability.

Chichester Community Design Charrette Team “Green Space” And
Crosswalk Project
It has been more than two
years since the non-profit group, PLAN NH held a two-day intensive
community design session in our town. Initiated by the Heritage
Commission and the Historical Society and endorsed by the
Selectboard, the PLAN NH team listened and asked questions. The
charrette focused on two concerns: (1) how to make Main Street safer
for walkers, bicycles, and motorized traffic, and, (2) how to create
the sense of a community center. As a result of the charrette
process, a document, “A VILLAGE CENTER, AGAIN” was produced
by the PLAN NH team. This plan is in the hands of the planning board
and is being utilized by the board as work continues on updating
Chichester’s Master Plan.
Our local community
design charrette team has continued to meet monthly, Our objective
is to address safety concerns of crossing Main Street at the
Grange/Town Hall parking lot to buildings on the North side of the
street. A small park-like green space, with benches, a gazebo, and
landscaping is also being developed.
The local team has
submitted a proposal to the Capital Improvement Plan Committee for
budget consideration. This proposal details the crosswalk plan as
submitted by Heidi Marshall, consulting town engineer with input
from DOT District #5. Phases of work will continue to include
parking lot paving, fencing, and landscaping. The crosswalk project
is currently scheduled for 2019. We are asking for community support
for this safety crosswalk.
The creation of the
“green space” is being worked on by the local charrette team and
other interested community members. The ground has been prepared for
loam and seeding. Trees and bushes have been trimmed or removed.
Stone has been donated for rebuilding the stone wall. Dan Schroth
has volunteered to do the stonework, Millican Wholesale Nurseries,
Inc. has generously donated ten evergreen trees for landscaping the
area. We are on the way to creating a wonderful “green space” for
the community to use and enjoy. If you would like to join in and
