Happy Birthday to Cheryl Difronzo on February 8 and Patrick Jarvis
on February 12.
Chichester’s Old Home Day will be August 18 this year. The theme is
"Under the Big Top." The Old Home Day Committee is seeking
additional person power both for committee meetings and on Old Home
Day itself. Workers are needed for set-up and clean-up, for food
service, for parking, for trash pick-up, and for supervising
children’s games. Contact Hannah West or Donna Chagnon if you can
help. The next Old Home Day Committee meeting will be Thursday,
February 16 at 7 p.m. at the Fire Station.
Now is the time to set aside the first two Saturdays in March for
School District Meeting and Town Meeting. Please make your plans
accordingly. Attending these meetings keeps citizens aware of what
is going on in their town.
Doug and Sally Kelly have been working for the past several weeks on
"The Philadelphia Story" which is being performed by the Community
Players of Concord this weekend. Tickets are available on-line at
www.communityplayers.org.
This can be a great Valentine treat and when you’re watching, note
how well things were constructed by Doug and how all the cues are on
time, thanks in part to Sally’s role as Stage Manager!

animals, we have it.
Some items you wouldn’t think would be on our 2011 Giving List
include: 6 prom dresses; 40 VHS movies for boy’s school; 1 guitar
for boy’s school; and 20 bags of rags for a scarecrow festival. Some

needs; and 28 warm-up kits for homeless.
As most of you know, we’re down to one store. We need your support
now more than ever to keep these good works going. We could use an
infusion of household goods, as we have given out many items already
this January.

Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met on Wednesday, February 1st, upstairs in the
Grange Hall. Valerie Merrill of Allenstown was a visitor who is
thinking of becoming reinvolved in Grange.
Wonderful thank-you notes were received from the third grade
students at Epsom Central School who received dictionaries in
December. The dictionaries were paid for by the Epsom Circle
Restaurant and presented by members of Chichester Grange.
The Charter was draped in loving memory of Russell MacCleery, a 75
year Grange member. Resolutions will be sent to members of his
family.
Fred Carlson received a 55 year membership seal. Other membership
awards are in the hands of the secretary and will be presented in
the near future.
Plans were discussed for holding a Penny Sale in March. The proceeds
would benefit charitable causes which Chichester Grange supports.
The program was on the topic of February, a very interesting month
in terms of its calendar. Leap year was discussed, including the
existence of a "leap-skip year" which happens when the number of the
year can be divided by 100 but not by 400. There was one in 1900 and
the next one will be in 2100. Many special days, both serious and
silly, fall in February. Hula in the Coola Day falls on February
first. February is National Bird Watching Month, and state and
national bird counts are taken then.
Following the meeting, refreshments were provided by Alice and Ina
Hilliard. There is only one meeting of Chichester Grange in
February. The next meeting will be March 7.
