Bee Hole Beavers Snowmobile Club

Well folks, it may still feel like summer, but it’s time to think about the upcoming snowmobile season. Our first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, September 14th (tonight) at the Chichester Community Building, 49 Main Street. The meeting will start at 7 pm.

Our President is trying to get a representative from the Bureau of Trails to attend our meeting for a question and answer time. We will likely be holding election of Officers on the 14th, but possibly at the October Meeting.

If you are interested in being a Club Officer, let us know. We will get an update on the trail work which has been performed this summer, damage from hurricane Irene, and the status of one section of Corridor 15 that is in jeopardy of being closed.

Bill Palmer, our membership Chairman, has informed me he has the new membership cards in. If you would like to renew your membership by mail, print out the form from the Membership Info page on our website: http://beeholebeavers.org. Then mail it to the address listed there. If you could include a self addressed stamped envelope, that would be helpful to Bill. You may also renew your membership in person at any meeting.
Hope to see many of you tonight.

Chichester Grange

Chichester Grange met at the Grange Hall on Wednesday, September 7th. Ruth Hammen was awarded a seal for 55 years of continuous Grange membership.

Members discussed plans for a pumpkin carving/decorating event to be held in October. Unfortunately, efforts to grow pumpkins have not been successful. Does anyone have any to donate?

Some Past Grange Master pins belonging to Melvin and Florence Sanborn were donated to Chichester Grange along with a picture of Melvin and his father taken in 1939 outside their Chichester home. After being admired by the members at the meeting, the pins and the picture were given to Ruth Hammen for display at the Chichester Historical Society.

Alice Hilliard presented a program about hurricanes. Members learned the about the wind speeds that indicate when a tropical storm becomes a hurricane of a particular category. They found out how hurricanes are named, and why certain names are retired from use. Some hurricane memories were shared.

Following the meeting refreshments provided by Ruth Hammen were enjoyed. The next meeting will be on September 21st at 7 p.m.
