Thank
you to all the Chichester residents that fed “Elfie the Christmas
Pig”. With the circulation of two pigs we were able to raise
$184.75 for the Chichester Police Association “Secret Santa
Program”. Between the two pigs they visited a total of 28 residents.
Hopefully, next year they will start visiting earlier and we can
double that amount. Thank you again for your generous support.
It’s time again, and during the holidays there is
often a high demand for blood. On Thursday, January 6th from
3:30 to 8:00 pm, there will be a Red Cross Blood Drive at the
Pittsfield Elementary School on Bow Street, sponsored by the PTO.
To avoid wait time you may call 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) for
an appointment. However, walk-ins are welcome.
While you
help save lives by giving blood, Dunkin’ Donuts is offering “Give a
pint - Get a pound”. Child care is provided for your
convenience.
The town pantry would like to thank the
American Legion #112, the Grateful Sleds, Baby Threads, Sandra
Skorapski and the Mitchell/Bedell families for their generous
donations. All types of detergent, paper products and hygiene
items are always in low supply.
Happy Birthday to
Allison Brudniak on January 6.
Chichester Grange will
meet only once during the month of January. The next meeting will be
January 19, and the meeting will begin with a Soup Supper at 6 p.m.

Letter
After a year of traveling all over the US, living in over 5 abuse
shelters, I have finally found a home in Chichester. As with
1/2 of the world, money’s tight. So, swallowing my pride, I put my
name in for a food basket at city hall last week.
I was
completely overwhelmed when I saw who was at my door yesterday. A
gentleman, Paul, had 3 hug boxes, for me, filled with food. It took
me a half hour to put it all away. I waited until he left to have a
good cry. I was crying because I didn’t know how to thank all the
people involved in getting all that wonderful Christmas food to me.
I’m taking this opportunity now to thank everyone who had
a hand in the food baskets. I wish I could personally thank all of
you. I hope you all know your hearts should be a little bigger,
knowing that you cared enough, gave up time with your own families,
to carefully box and deliver our holiday food.
I am extremely
lucky to call Chichester my new home. And even more lucky to know
there are so many “quiet” angels who care enough for their residents
to do all that they do. I am so very thankful to you all. Merry
Christmas.
Most Sincerely, Pamela Donaldson
Chichester Library News
Chichester Library opens its 2011
artist’s exhibition season with the eclectic watercolors of Bow

walls and floors until about two years ago, now studies with Sylvia
Brofos at Kimball-Jenkins School of Art, in Concord.
Heads
of people, waterscapes, and flowers, join less commonly painted
everyday objects like a pair of eyeglasses, a plated cookie, or fall
colors painted looking skyward. In her
non-painting life, King teaches math at NHTI and Granite State
College.
Please join us for an artists reception on Saturday

Out Of
Your Attic Thrift Shop News Submitted By Carol Hendee
Here
we go again, another year on the way. Turns out, the Attic
should have asked for some things from Santa, but were too busy
filling wish lists!!
So, we turn to our wonderful contributors.
Some items we could use include a front door outside mat, heavy
rubber mat for standing on cement, big bags to put large purchases
in (like coats) candles (no holders) & flashlights with batteries
for power outages. Also, if you changed over to the wattage
saving bulbs & want to dispose of your old ones, we can use them to
sell with lamps and double AA batteries--these somehow walk away
from the shop during testing. Gift bags were a great item-I
think we sold 100! Also, on a happy note, the shopper that
came the farthest to our store was from Argentina!!! Clothes
are at a premium there and the Mom heard about our shop and picked
up many, many items. We are at 345 Suncook Valley Hwy,
Chichester and are open Tues. and Thurs. 8-4, Wed. 11-4 and Sat.
10-4. If local schools are closed due to inclement weather, we
will also be closed. We wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New
Year!
Chichester Historical Society
The Chichester Historical Society
begins its 2011 year of programs on January 10, 2011. Bruce
Graham, of Epsom, will present “The Lost Art of Shoemaking.”
Mr. Graham will discuss the history of the cottage industry of
shoemaking that flourished in the Epsom and Chichester areas in the
1800’s. A demonstration of the art of shoemaking will also be
given by Mr. Graham.
The society’s programs are held the 2nd
Monday of every other month at 7 pm at the Chichester Historical
Society Museum at 49 Main Street. Programs are free and open
to all. Refreshments are served after the program. We
hope you will join us for this interesting and informative program.
For information, call Lucille Noel at 798-5709.
Ho! Ho! Ho!
Did Santa Claus Ever Do His Work In Chichester! Wow!
The Chichester Police Association “Secret Santa” Fund would like
to thank all of those who donated to the fund.
We assisted Santa
with 16 children. Amazingly enough we still have folks in this
day and age that are homeless in our society. We all
understood the hardships that this year had brought to so many, but
I am not sure that we realized the gravity of it all.
We had some
“AWESOME” helpers this year. Samantha of Curves and her group
adopted, shopped, wrapped for us; Marilyn Weir and her group also
adopted, shopped, and wrapped for us; Stacey Clarke of Epsom
Healthcare and her group adopted, shopped, and wrapped for us; David
and Betty Holmes came through again this year; Kimberly Mitchell and
her elves did their share; and of course, Chief Patrick Clarke and
the men in blue.
To the ladies who donated the 29 bags of
goodies, thank you so much. Donations were plentiful this year
and there was one donation that really impressed us. What a
wonderful lesson to teach your children, to give to those less
fortunate. There was this amazing little green pig named “Elfie,
the Christmas Pig”. He just traveled from home to home
collecting money for the Secret Santa Fund. We received over
$186.00 from this small gesture. I’m not sure who to
thank, but word has it that Doreen Lehoullier and her elves, Jack
and Lauren were responsible. Many thanks to you three and all
who donated to the pig. It looked like a fun idea and what an
impressive way to spread the word.
Again thank you to all who
sent donations. Without the donations this program would not
be possible. Thank you to anyone who gave time, there were so
many that I can’t remember them all. It’s such a wonderful way
to help those less fortunate and we are proud to be a small part of
that group. Thank you all again.
