On Friday, January 29th, a large flock of robins was observed feeding on the
holly berries at a home in Chichester. They were flying from nearby trees to
the holly bushes and eating very busily.
Happy Birthday to Patrick Jarvis on February 12 and to Heather
Duford and Kendra Jarvis on February 16.

? Costly HIPAA Violation 1/26/2010
In listening to the
1/26/2010 Selectboard’s meeting, I was struck by something I heard. It would
seem that our Fire Chief incorrectly chastised a volunteer EMT for a HIPAA
violation (the EMT did not give any patient identifiers, simply
circumstances), only to then commit a HIPAA violation (giving the
Selectboard a TEMSIS report, which included a townsperson’s name in a public
meeting) himself. As Fire Chief, Gilbert Vien should be held to a higher
standard than his volunteers; however it would appear that a basic level EMT
knows more than he when it comes to a potentially costly violation of
Federal law.
Thank you to Selectman DeBold for pointing this violation
out to Chief Vien.
Just wondering Chairman McCleery, will Chief Vien
suffer the same fate as Warden Stock for this infraction? Oh that’s right,
you recommended Chief Vien to take Warden Stock’s position (remember you and
Selectman Jordan went against town counsel advice to remove Warden Stock)
That creaking sound you hear is the townspeople of Chichester wallets
opening to pay for yet more legal advice… God Help us all….
Only
solution I see is to vote for Mike Paveglio for Selectman. He has 25 years
documented experience managing people and budgets in the real world, and he
also served as our Volunteer Fire Chief for decades.
Thank you.

Chichester Grange
Chichester Grange met on February 3 at 7 p.m. with
Master Anne Boisvert presiding. Members approved the budget for 2010, noting
that it will not be balanced this year, because the New Hampshire State
Grange has raised its annual dues but Chichester Grange has not. Members
voted last year to absorb the state dues increase for one year to allow time
to properly process a dues increase for Chichester.
Wildlife sightings
included cardinals, a hairy woodpecker, ducks in flight, a large flock of
wild turkeys, and squirrels. On a recent visit to Connecticut Anne Boisvert
saw twenty swans on Long Island Sound. The clues for this year’s Photo
Scavenger Hunt were distributed.
Chichester Grange has been issued a
challenge to collect at least 27 pairs of children’s winter mittens or
gloves before October, 2010. They may be either handmade or store-bought.
Members are urged to take out the knitting needles and/or search for
bargains. Suncook Valley Pomona Grange will collect the gloves and mittens
from Chichester, Pembroke, and Hooksett Granges and distribute them to the
eight elementary schools in towns where Suncook Valley Pomona members live.
The evening’s program contained many facts about groundhogs and some
information about presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Grangers
learned that Groundhog Day is also observed in Canada; A famous albino
groundhog named Wiarton Willie predicted weather in one section of Canada
for many years.
Delicious refreshments provided by Mary West were served
after the meeting. Chichester Grange meets only once in February. The next
meeting will be March 3.
