Letter
Are Self Storage Units Needed On RT 28 In Chichester?

There will be a meeting on November 5th, 2009, at the Chichester Town Hall on this proposal. MEA Project #09-0824-1.

I would like to express my concerns on plans for the property at the intersection of RT 28 and Bear Hill Road in Chichester. Won’t this just add to the traffic problem we now have at this intersection. How many accidents have you seen at this intersection? Is this something we want or need in town? How about the impact with the homes in that area? Being river front property how will this impact the wetlands? When people default on their contract will this open the units to public auctions? How much traffic will that generate? Some of our concerns are Lighting-Number of Units-Hours of Operation-Wetlands-Impact to Neighboring Homes-Traffic.

There are Storage Units  2.7 miles south at Epsom Circle, 5 miles North on RT 28 in Pittsfield, and on RT 106 in Loudon. How many Storage Units are needed in a 5 mile radius?

If you would like to express your concerns, you need to be at this meeting.

Concerned Abutter,
Wayne McIntyre
Chichester, NH

Giggles, Dolls And History

Six local girls will be among the over 90 models participating in the fifth annual American Girl Fashion Show taking place in Concord at the Capitol Center For The Arts on November 7 and 8 at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day. The event is a fundraiser for the Junior Service League (JSL) of Concord, and has gained in popularity with each passing year.

“This is such a popular event because it provides girls and their friends the opportunity to see fantasy and reality meet, as their favorite American Girl doll comes to life through the live models,” said Catherine Hunter, one of the event’s co-chairs. American Girl dolls have become something of a cultural phenomenon with many young girls today. The dolls represent historical eras and figures from our nations past, as well as those depicting modern day life in the United States. “Just about every girl has her favorite character from the line of dolls or chapter books, whether it’s Kaya, Felicity, Josefina, Kit or Molly,” Hunter said.

The young models have been practicing their runway steps for a couple of weeks and are eagerly awaiting the actual performances. “We are very fortunate to have so many young ladies participate in this event,” said Hunter. “They have all been working very hard.”

This fashion show is one of a kind for New Hampshire. The JSL of Concord is the only New Hampshire organization selected to partner with the American Girl Company for a fundraising Fashion Show. The American Girl Company has a long-standing commitment to children’s charities. The JSL, in turn, will continue its over 70-year tradition of supporting social service agencies in the greater Concord community, by distributing the money raised to organizations helping women and children in crisis.

Tickets are between $27.00 and $37.00 and can be purchased on-line from the Capitol Center at www.ccanh.com or by calling the box office at 1-603-225-1111.

Area girls participating are: Alexis and Catilin Swatsworth, Chichester; Alexandria and Elizabeth Sacco, Epsom; and Katherine Dade and Margaret Fair, Gilmanton.
