Barnstead Killpartrick Family.jpg

Lily and Poppy Killpartrick of Barnstead had a novel idea to celebrate their April birthdays together.  Instead of inviting their friends and collecting birthday gifts, Lily, 8, and her 5 year old sister, Poppy, asked each child to bring food items for the local food pantry.  The results were amazing!  They brought 8 shopping bags of food to donate to the Barnstead Food Pantry located next to the Bosco Bell Convenience Store on Route 28.  All the kids, and all the parents opened up their hearts and made Lily’s and Poppy’s joint birthday a great success AND a lot of fun by knowing that they were helping all those in need during these difficult economic times.

Meloney and Adam Killpartrick and their two daughters, Poppy (L) and Lily (R), with just a few of the many food items that they were given as birthday gifts for Lily.

Nighthawk Hollow Seniors

On Wednesday, April 2, the Nighthawk Hollow Seniors travelled to the Pittsfield Senior Center for lunch and enjoyed a delicious fish meal. There was no business meeting.

On Wednesday, May 7, members met at the Barnstead Town Hall and enjoyed a yummy pot luck lunch, which included tuna noodle casserole, cauliflower, fried chicken, Hawaiian pizza, tossed salad, homemade bread and butter, angel cake, and Swedish apple pie. Following lunch, President Christine Sanborn conducted the business meeting. A 50/50 raffle was held, followed by Bingo games with cash prizes.

Next month, on Wednesday, June 4, we are invited to Christine Sanborn’s cottage on Suncook Lake. Please your sandwich and a drink, and your swimsuit if you wish. If necessary, a balloon will be placed by the road leading to the cottage road.

All seniors are welcome to attend and may join our club by paying dues, which are only $4 a year, a real bargain!

Questions? Please call Christine Sanborn at 875-2676.
