Barnstead School Board And Barnstead Education Association
Reach
Agreement
The Barnstead School Board and the Barnstead Education Association are
pleased to announce that they have reached a tentative agreement for a
successor collective bargaining agreement for the period September 1,
2012 through August 31, 2014.
After reaching an impasse last year, due to the lack of an agreement,
the teachers are working at a salary freeze for the 2011-12 school year.
The parties resumed negotiations this fall and recognizing the difficult
economic times have agreed to a second year of a salary freeze for the
2012-13 school year and a one-step advancement on the existing salary
schedule in 2013-14. This will be the third year of a 0% increase in the
Barnstead salary schedule.
The Barnstead School Board and the Barnstead Education Association
worked collaboratively to reach an agreement that we believe the voters
will support.
Teen Youth Group
Why should teens attend church? According to the Minneapolis Search
Institute, young people involved in faith communities are more likely to
feel valued, supported and empowered than those who are not involved in
church youth groups or faith based organizations. Teenagers who place
importance on spirituality are less likely to engage in risky behaviors
such as alcohol and drug use, low school grades and anti-social
behavior, just to name a few.
Center Barnstead Christian Teen Youth Group is beginning a new 8 weeks
Bible study entitled "Where was God when...." This study can help teens
cope with the "hits of life" such as divorce, peer pressure, low self
esteem and failed friendships. This study will take place at Center
Barnstead Christian Church every Wednesday at 6:30 pm beginning February
1st, and all teens are welcome. There will also be games and a snack.
The Center Barnstead Christian Church is located on Route 126, next to
the Town Hall. For more information contact the church at 269-8831.
