Letter

Dear Editor:
I wrote this poem to honor our fallen heroes, both past and present.

Arlington
Within Arlington’s ground, in row upon row,
Lay the national treasure that generations did sow.
These heroes, now gone, gave all of their youth,
Fighting in foreign lands, with nail and with tooth.
So sacred their vow, now completed in full.
For love of our country, on their heartstrings did pull.
Now laying here, within soil so enriched,
Are the bones of these honored, as if neatly stitched.
The cost has been great, for the freedom we love.
And such was the price to keep, that gift from above.
They gave all that they had, to defend freedom’s shore.
So much was asked of them, and now, nothing more.
I do not dare tread upon this, most hallowed of ground.
For their noble sacrifice, was so great and profound.
All I can hope for, is one day they may know,
How very grateful I am, for the seed they did sow.

Kid Pinky At Barnstead Parade

Live music for all ages can be enjoyed as Barnstead’s “Summer Concerts” continue with the terrific band Kid Pinky, on Saturday, July 9th.

Kid Pinky is a retro-style four piece blues band that is authentic and unique, without being loud.  Accompanied by three highly talented bluesmen from the New Hampshire area, Kid Pinky and his Restless Knights are a throwback to a more simple, yet nasty, kind of blues.  Engaging personalities and comfortable volume levels always make the show fun, creating an intimacy that makes you feel as though you are experiencing a private performance in your own living room.

As always, bring a blanket, chair, the kids, and prepare to dance, sing along or just chill to the talents of these awesome artists!  Various local non-profits will be offering refreshments as fundraisers.  Thanks for your support.  Come enjoy Kid Pinky, from 6 – 8 pm, July 9th, at the Barnstead parade grounds on Parade Road.  Blues that’ll knock you out!
