It’s time
again, and during the holidays there is often a high demand for blood.
On Thursday, January 6th from 3:30 to 8:00 pm, there will be a Red Cross
Blood Drive at the Pittsfield Elementary School on Bow Street, sponsored
by the PTO. To avoid wait time you may call 1-800-Red-Cross
(1-800-733-2767) for an appointment. However, walk-ins are
welcome.
While you help save lives by giving blood, Dunkin’ Donuts is
offering “Give a pint - Get a pound”. Child care is provided for
your convenience.

Do the true headlines above take you by surprise? Are
you aware that Christians around the world are being persecuted daily
for their faith in Jesus Christ? Do you know that when asked about
their greatest need they say it’s prayer for them to be strong in their
faith and to be good witnesses for Jesus Christ no matter the
circumstances?
Center Barnstead Christian Church has set aside this
Sunday, January 9, 2011, to pray for Christians around the world living
daily under the threat of persecution. These believers risk
discrimination, imprisonment and even death because of their active
witness for Jesus Christ. Scripture instructs us to remember those in
bonds as though we were bound with them. (Hebrews 13:3) This special day
of prayer and remembrance is one of the ways we do that. We also
encourage prayer for the souls of the oppressors, the nations that
promote persecution, and those who ignore it.
Our hope is that this
day of prayer will encourage people to be active all year long in prayer
and support for our persecuted brothers and sisters. You are
invited to join us as we pray for continued boldness and courage for
believers as they share the gospel and for hearts to be softened to the
truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Peg Aron, an Area
Representative for Voice of the Martyrs, will also be here to speak.
There will be Sunday School at 9:00 AM, and the persecuted church
worship service will begin at 10:00 AM this Sunday.
Center
Barnstead Christian Church is located next to Barnstead’s Town Hall on
Route 126. For more information please call the church at

John
Stephen To Be Guest Speaker At January 11 Republican Meeting
The
Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee (BARC) has announced that their
next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 11 at J.J. Goodwin’s
Restaurant, 769 Suncook Valley Highway (Rt 28), in Center Barnstead.
There will be a short business meeting at 6:30 pm, followed by the Guest
Speaker, former New Hampshire HHS Commissioner (and this past year’s
Republican nominee for Governor), John Stephen.
John will talk about the situation our state finds itself in with regard
to the budget, the process that will take place over the next few months
to balance it, and the obligation of our Republican State
Representatives and State Senators to answer the call and lead.
John will cite some examples of areas where we need to cut and downsize,
and the impact this will have.
If you’re interested in having dinner (at your
option) before the meeting (or just want to socialize a bit), plan to
arrive as early as 5:30 pm. For more information, please send an
email to
[email protected].
