Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee
The Barnstead-Alton
Republican Committee (BARC) will hold their next monthly meeting on
Tuesday, April 13 at J.J. Goodwin’s Restaurant (upstairs), 769 Suncook
Valley Rd (Rt 28), Center Barnstead - (603) 364-9780. Following their
normal format, dinner (at your option) is at 5:30 p.m.; the meeting will
begin at 6:30 p.m.
Since election season is now in full swing and
more people are declaring their intentions to run for office, BARC will
have three guest speakers this month:
• Mike Castaldo, candidate for
Congress, 1st District.
• George Hurt, candidate for State Senate,
4th District.
• Jim Forsythe, candidate for State Senate, 4th
District.
After brief presentations by each candidate, attendees will
have an opportunity to direct their questions to any (or all) of the
speakers. All three of these candidates face primary elections in
September. Castaldo will be facing at least four other Republicans in
the September primary, the winner to square off against Democrat
Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter in November. Hurt and Forsythe will be
facing each other in the Republican primary in September, the winner to
challenge incumbent Democrat Kathleen Sgambati for her State Senate
seat. This is a great opportunity for BARC members and attendees to
determine who they wish to support for the Republican Party’s
nomination.
BARC meetings are fairly informal, and you don’t even
have to be a member to attend; all Republican and
Independent/Unaffiliated voters are welcome to drop-in. There are sure
to be interesting discussions about Washington DC topics such as
healthcare, the economy, and jobs, as well as many of the hot
legislative topics being addressed in Concord. With Carol Shea-Porter’s
recent Town Hall Meeting held in Alton on April 1, there will certainly
be even more to discuss that evening. And more details about the
upcoming annual Belknap County Lincoln Day Mount Washington Cruise
scheduled for Friday, June 4, will be provided. Also, there will be an
announcement about a major special event planned for the May BARC
meeting. It’s sure to be an evening of lively and interesting discussion
that you won’t want to miss.

email to
[email protected] or visit the BARC web site,
