Letter to the Editor
Full Serve Gas Station Troubles

Dear Editor,
I am writing to let your readers know what has happened to me.

Back in Sept. of 2008 I went to a full service gas station in Epsom to get my gas and took out the money for gas that I had set aside for my budget to be pumped by the service station personnel. I had 20 dollars in my hand and was in full view when the lady asked me how much? I told her 20 dollars. She then went back and started the pumping and came back and started a conversation on how to figure out how to price for miles to gallon.

She had to talk with someone as she filled the car. When she came back she asked me to agree to make a bill for the amount that was left that I didn’t order. She then told me that if I didn’t agree to pay for it that she would have to take it out of her pocket. I did come up with $5 more.

Self Serve you pump, you pay what you pump. At full service, you tell them what you want and then pay them for pumping.

Then in Jan. 2009 I stopped back and got some gas. The amount I asked for the car didn’t take and was waiting for change. She didn’t come out. My passenger went in as I have a knee injury and she took the change out of her pocket.

The last time I stopped there I was refused service. I asked to speak to the manager, I beeped, she said she was the manager. Didn’t tell me before.  Again, I was left feeling like a victim of extortion.

The Epsom Police called me back and told me that I didn’t have to pay for the overage.
Respectfully Submitted
