Letter
To
Brothers and Sisters of the United States of America:
I just had to
say something, over the ruling made by a U.S. District Judge, in
South Carolina, over a cross in front of stain glass window along
with the words “I Believe” on a license plate. I understand his ruling
was unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment ban on
establishment of religion by government.
My
first question has he read the First Amendment of our Constitution?
Has he
read what Thomas Jefferson wrote about our Constitution and Amendments?
Thomas
Jefferson said “On every question of construction, (let us) carry
ourselves Back to the time when the Constitution was adopted,
recollect the spirit manifested
in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed
out of the text, or invented against it, Conform to the probable one in
which it was passed.”
1ST. Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free
exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;
or the right to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress
of grievances.”
How do
they get ban of establishment of religion out of these words? As Thomas
Jefferson said nothing hidden. I see that the Judge in question and all
judges that have ruled against religion, [ the wording separation of
church and state does not exist in our constitution, or any amendments,]
have violated the 1st Amendment by prohibiting the free exercise of
religion. Remember our Supreme Court and U.S. District Justices can only
make rulings on constitutionality and can not make law.
Read
the Constitution of The United States by National center of
constitutional studies 2009. Our Forefathers wanted God in our country.

Bless America

Fox Tale Books To Hold Ladies Night Out
Fox
Tale Books is having its first “Ladies Night Out” Wednesday, Dec. 2nd
from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is an evening that ladies can get
out and shop at their leisure without husbands pulling them one way and
children pulling them the other. And because it is for ladies only, we
are featuring several specials and events for women only. It is a
great way to meet new people and connect with those you haven’t seen
lately.
At 6:45
p.m. we are lucky to have Alton’s own Patty Belanger reading and signing
her hit book I’m on Pause. A collection of poetry, it humorously deals
with that time in every woman’s life when she begins to sweat like a
pig, turn into a monster and become bright red for no reason at all. If
you don’t relate to this time in your life yet, you soon will. We will
be auctioning off two t-shirts to two lucky attendees.
Also
attending will be Darlene McKenzie of Dove Chocolate Discoveries, one of
the most respected names in the business. Dove uses only the best
ingredients in all their products. There will be plenty of chocolate
samples to try, including their decadent chocolate martini. These make
wonderful presents all year long, but especially during this holiday
season.
Pam
Nason will also be here supplying hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Wildtree
Herbs. You won’t find hydrogenated fats, preservatives, artificial
flavors and additives in these food products. But you will find many
sauces, spices and oils that will make your food preparation easier and
tastier. A great idea for gift baskets this season.
Constantly forgetting to get that card in the mail? Marcie of Send
Out Cards has the solution for you. Imagine having your computer
alert you when you need to send out a card, printing the card with the
image you want and the sentiment you want, signing your signature and
sending it out. This is a great service for the harried lady who is
trying to do it all. What a great present for the woman who
doesn’t have enough hours in the day.
Fox
Tale Books is located at 5 Monument Square(where Rte. 140 meets Rte. 11)
in Alton. To reserve a copy of I’m on Pause or if you have any
questions, please call 875-3690 or email us at
[email protected].
We are also on Facebook.
Barnstead-Alton
Republicans Announce
Meeting/Christmas-Hanukkah Party
The
Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee (BARC) will hold their next monthly
meeting on Tuesday, December 8 at J.J. Goodwin’s Restaurant (upstairs),
769 Suncook Valley Rd (Rt 28), Center Barnstead - (603) 364-9780.
Following our normal format, dinner (at your option) is at 5:30 pm; the
meeting will begin at 6:30 pm.
At all
previous meetings, BARC has featured notables including current office
holders as well as Republican candidates for office in the upcoming 2010
elections as our guest speakers. Last month, US Senate candidate Ovide
Lamontagne was the guest speaker, taking numerous questions from those
in attendance. At the next meeting (December 8), BARC is pleased to
announce that yet another candidate for US Senate, Jim Bender, will be
the featured guest speaker.
Mr.
Bender has more than 25 years as a businessman and entrepreneur who has
used his problem-solving and management skills to turn-around and expand
underperforming businesses.
With a
background in technology, finance, and economics, Jim hopes to use his
private sector expertise to address the challenges facing New Hampshire.
His goals as a Washington “outsider” include growing the economy and
increasing the number of jobs in New Hampshire, while at the same time
demonstrating fiscal responsibility, good governance, and public trust.
Jim has
successfully started and grown companies that have ultimately employed
hundreds of New Hampshire residents. He hopes to apply the same
techniques and problem solving skills as US Senator in helping to pull
both the US and New Hampshire economy’s out of the current recession by
spurring needed growth in revenue, in jobs, and in investments.
In
addition to his business ventures, Jim has been involved in a variety of
local charitable causes such as fundraising for a new church in Nashua,
and working on many other local projects in and around his home town of
Hollis, New Hampshire for the past 23 years. Jim is a family man; he and
his wife, Susan, have been married for 28 years, and they have two
daughters, Jackie and Lauren, both graduates of Boston College. The
entire family has been active in their church’s friendly visitor program
for more than ten years.
Jim has
a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Lowell
Technological Institute, and a Masters in Business Administration from
Harvard Business School. (See Jim’s website
http://benderforsenate.com for
more details.)
In
addition to hearing from Mr. Bender, the agenda also includes:
•
Christmas/Hanukkah Celebration
• The regular monthly legislative
update from our State Representatives
• Another (yes, another!!)
Special Election update – two primaries in December and one in January,
followed by general elections, as well as the results of the recount for
the State Representative seat in Concord
• Further updates on the
ever-changing candidate lineup for the various State and Federal offices
• Discussion of the current “happenings” in Washington, and how to
get involved in planned nationwide events
This is
an open invitation to all area Republicans; feel free to just walk-in
and join us at BARC for some enlightening conversation, debate, and
friendship….no RSVP needed! We have members from Alton, Barnstead,
Wolfeboro, Meredith, Laconia and other surrounding towns who enjoy the
meetings because they’re informal, up close, and personal. The November
2010 elections will be here before you know it; now is the time to get
involved so that we can “Change for the Better” rather than simply
"Change"!
December 8, 5:30 or 6:30 pm, JJ Goodwin’s Restaurant – it’s time to hop
on the band-wagon and join our grass-roots organization!
For
more information, please send an email to
[email protected] or visit the BARC website,
www.BARC-NewHampshire.com.

Letter To
The Editor
On the early morning hours of November 28th we were the
victims of someone stealing our snowblower from our locked shed.
We,
like most, struggle daily to make our mortgage payments and ends meet
with the economy the way it is. We both suffer from underlying medical
issues that prevent us from shoveling and relied on the snowblower to
get us though the winter. We can’t afford another one as we are barely
making it now. We are pleading with the person or persons responsible
for this careless act, to return this to us with no questions asked. We
can be reached at 207-890-0431 if any one has any information where we
can find this. It is a 2007 Tecumseh (Snow King), please return it.
Thanks and Happy Holidays,
Wanda Merrill
