Pittsfield/Barnstead Lions Club

The Pittsfield/Barnstead Lions Club has been in existence since 01/24/1954, and has served the community well since that time. With membership at an all time low, it is possible that the Lions Club will disband. The Lions Club helps the citizens of the area with help to receive help with eyeglasses and hearing aids.

If a minimum of ten people will come forward and join, the Lions Club will become active again. There needs to be a member to serve as President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The opportunity here exists for you to:

“Hone” your Leadership abilities.
Bring this Club back to Life.
Be a low profile HERO.
Provide miracles to and for your many neighbors.
Help - lead - by example - Have fun doing it!!

Become a member. Send your name with a check for $25.00, (payable to Pittsfield/Barnstead Lions Club) and mail it to me ASAP. (Ellis Ring, Region 3 Chair, Pittsfield/Barnstead Lions Club, P.O. As soon as we receive 10 checks, a meeting date will be called for either October 29 or November 5, the location TBA, and notification will be in the Suncook Sun as well. We will return all checks if we do not receive ten new members.

In service with you,

Letter

To my Friends and Neighbors,
The Hike on Oct. 11 , E.I. Take-A- Hike, went well. We had over twenty people on the ‘Sandy’s B Buddies Team and have raised about $1500.00. It was an absolutely perfect day to hike and the views from the top of Mt. Major were phenomenal with lots of fall color.

I was able to make it to the top again this year thanks to all my supporters and the good work of Dr. Peter Kaufman and his colleagues at The Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center who are doing breast cancer research (with funds raised from this event and other sources).

It is not too late to donate. go to www.EITakeAhike.org/Sandysbbuddies.

Thanks,
Sandy Burt

Puppet Shows In Africa

Uganda, Africa. A small country in East Africa that borders Lake Victoria, a country that has been torn by AIDS, HIV, numerous civil wars, and a decade of genocide at the hands of a twisted Dictator. This country seems to have no hope, even to this day; starvation and epidemics still destroy thousands of lives every day. In the middle of all this are children who need to know that there is hope, that someone does love them.

On September 23, 2009, Jared Bolstridge (a 16 year old young man) left from New Hampshire, to join an international puppet team, to do puppet shows across this nation. Puppet shows that told these children of Jesus, who loves them, and gives them hope. The team shared this message with over 20,000 kids in three different locations across the country. On Sunday, November 1st at 4:30 PM, Jared will be sharing about his trip to Africa and the great things that happened while he was there. There will also be an update from the men who went on a recent missions trip to Children’s Bible Fellowship in New York. All are invited to come.

For more information, call the church at 269-8831. The church is located on Route 126, next to the Town Hall.

Prospect Mountain High School Holds School Wide Contest

Submitted by Pam Plante OTR/L

Zachary McGee

The students at Prospect Mountain High School have been issued a challenge to help a fellow student with disabilities as he starts a business. Zachary McGee, who is 19, lives in Alton, NH, and attends Prospect Mountain High School, is starting a business that he hopes will give back to his local communities. The school is sponsoring a contest to assist him in the naming of his new business and designing a logo to go with it.

Students will have until October 30th to come up with a catchy name that describes his business and a logo to depict the name. The name and design should indicate his business is a local errand business. For a very small fee, Zach and his helpers will run errands around town, such as going to the post office, the bank, the grocery store or picking up prescriptions. He can return or pick up books from the library or any other errand you may think of.  Full contest rules are available throughout the high school and completed entries should be turned into Mrs. Felipe. The winning entry will be picked the first week in November and that student will receive a dozen Dunkin Doughnuts, plus recognition in local newspapers. Follow-up articles will appear as his business develops to keep the communities informed of the services he can offer.

The name should: Be short and catchy, Include Zach, Zachary or Z, Relate to the type of business, Either be original or come from the following list:  A to Z Delivery, Z Run Z, Round Town Errandz, Buzz Around Errandz, Z’Errandz.

The design/logo should:  Incorporate a wheelchair. Perhaps incorporate types of errands (groceries, mail, pharmacy, library, bank, etc.)

Have square dimensions to be easily enlarged or minimized for various advertisement formats.

For questions, please contact Jackie Clark at [email protected]
